Inn History
The house was built in the early 1900s and owned by sisters, Blanche Broadwater Dougherty and Birdie Broadwater Quillen. The Doughtery family made it their home until 1998. The Broadwater family has owned and operated many businesses in Gate City for many generations. Park Street was originally the main street through town. Now Jackson Street is the main street and runs along the backside of the inn. The Jenkins' private home only a block away actually is part of the original Broadwater farm.

Innkeepers
Your hosts are Mark and Jan Jenkins who lovingly restored this enchanting home almost entirely by themselves. They first purchased the home in 1999 and soon they were approached by a mother and daughter, and it became The English Garden Tearoom which operated from this location for several years.
Mark is the Mayor of Gate City and works for Eastman Chemical. Jan is busy running UnCommon Goods, a local antique store, and both are very busy in community activities and events. But most of all they enjoy welcoming and getting to know their guests.
